When a call starts in a call app or your browser, a banner offers to record. Nothing records until you click.

Time and levels sit under the menu bar. Open the pill to read along, add a note or a marker. It never takes focus from your call.

When the call app lets go of the mic, Sayly asks. No answer? It stops after a minute of quiet.
Then it writes the notes.
Speakers first, then a summary with key points, decisions and action items, each with the time it was said. Written on your Mac.

Every line gets its speaker, and you are always Speaker 1. Name someone once and Sayly knows their voice in the next meeting. When it is not sure, it asks.

Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. Every feature is free, for good: dictation, meetings, the local models, your own API keys, your own GGUF models, modes, vocabulary and updates. The only paid thing will be Sayly Cloud, a hosted API for people who do not want to manage keys or models. It is not open yet.
What runs on my Mac?
For dictation, two models: Parakeet v3 turns speech into text, and S1-mini by Superwhisper cleans it up. Meetings add speaker models (about 210 MB, downloaded with your first meeting) and a summary model: Qwen3.5, or Apple Intelligence on macOS 26. Meetings transcribe the 25 European languages Parakeet covers; other languages need Apple Speech on macOS 26.
Which Macs?
macOS 14 or later, on a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer). Intel Macs are not supported. Recording the other side of a call needs macOS 14.4; on 14.0 to 14.3, meetings record your mic only. Sayly picks Qwen3.5 4B (2.8 GB) on Macs with 16 GB of memory or more, and the 2B (1.3 GB) below that.
Which call apps work?
Any app that plays the call through your Mac, since Sayly records your mic and your Mac's sound: Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, FaceTime, Slack, Webex and others, in their own apps or in a browser. A talk in the room works too. Dictation keeps working during a meeting, and it stays out of the summary.
Does anyone in the call know?
No bot joins, so the call shows only the people in it. If you want to tell them, Sayly can copy a short notice for the chat: "I'm using Sayly to transcribe this call on my Mac. Let me know if you'd rather I didn't." Some places require everyone's consent, so check the rules where you are.
Does my audio leave my Mac?
No, unless you pick a cloud engine yourself. Recordings, transcripts, summaries and voice profiles stay on your Mac, and Automatic never picks a cloud engine. Dictation audio is kept 14 days by default. Meeting audio is kept until you delete it, or for 90, 30 or 7 days if you choose; deleting it keeps the transcript and the summary.
Can it use my calendar?
If you turn it on; it is off by default. Then meetings take their titles from the event, names from the invite show up when you name speakers, and Up Next lists today's meetings with a Record button five minutes before each starts. Access is read only and stays on your Mac.
Can I use my own API keys?
Yes. Paste a key for an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, Deepgram or Anthropic, or point Sayly at Ollama or LM Studio on your machine. Sayly talks to the provider directly with your key. A key for Anthropic or an OpenAI-compatible provider can also write meeting summaries, but only if you pick it.

Privacy
Nothing leaves your Mac by default. Speech, cleanup, speaker and summary models run on your machine, and recordings, transcripts, summaries and voice profiles stay there. Calendar access is optional and read only. There is no analytics and no telemetry, in the app or on this site. Your audio reaches a cloud provider only if you pick one yourself.
